Cattlianthe Deception Drop was registered in 2013 by Aranbeem Orchids of Brisbane, Australia. Cattlianthe (or Ctt for short) is a nothogenus (inter-genus) hybrid between a Cattleya and a Guarianthe orchid. In this case, one of the parents of Ctt Deception Drop is Ctt Chocolate Drop, a hybrid made from Cattleya guttata and Guarianthe aurantiaca back in the 1960s by now defunct Stewart Orchids of Mississippi, USA.
Ctt Deception Drop plant was grown by Joyce and Sam Atwal.
